About Superintendent Robin Spears

Welcome to the Rock Valley Community School District! At Rock Valley, we believe in Educating Today's Student for Tomorrow.

I've come out of retirement to serve as interim Superintendent for one more school year. I retired as Superintendent of the Sheldon Community School District on June 30, 2018. I had been the Superintendent of the Sheldon Community School District since 1997.

Prior to 1997 I had been the Superintendent in the Janesville Consolidated School District (1994-1997), High School Principal in the Clarinda Community School District (1992-1994), High School Principal in the Starmont Community School District (1986-1992), and High School/Middle School Principal in the Northeast Hamilton Community School District (1983-1986). I was a teacher and coach in the Knox County R-1 School District in Edina, MO (1979-1982).

I have served on many local, state, and national committees including the AASA’s Governing Board, AASA Executive Committee, National Statistical Networking Applications Project Review Board, National SPEEDE/ExPRESS Committee, IASB Iowa Joint Utilities Management Committee, DE Superintendent’s Advisory Council, DE Statewide Electronic Data Interchange Advisory Committee, IASB Administrator’s Advisory Council, City of Sheldon 2001 and 2021 Vision Planning Committee, O’Brien County Decatorization Local Planning Group, Sheldon Community Development Corporation Communication/Cooperation Committee and SCDC Board of Directors.

I earned my B.S.E. degree at Truman State University (1978), M.A. in Secondary School Administration at Truman State University (1983), and C.A.S. from the University of Northern Iowa in Education Administration (1996).
