Students Win Headbone Derby
Lisa Olivier and Jessica Vander Velde,
fourth grade students in the "Wings" Program, were recently named winners in the
internet contest "Escape to Freedom" sponsored by Headbone Interactive.
The students entered the contest as part of a unit of study on the Underground Railroad.
The contest involved an illustrated online story. Students were required to solve a series
of problems by finding information on the internet. Eight teams were declared winners out
of 860 participating teams. Winning teams were from schools all around the country and
students ranged from third through eight grade. Jessica and Lisa won a TV, VCR and a set
of History Channel videos for our school.
