Program Goals

Student Outcomes
To develop awareness and acceptance of one's capabilities, limitations,
interests, and needs.
To develop skills needed for positive relationships with others.
To develop independence, self-motivation, and discipline in learning.
To develop critical and creative thinking skills.
To explore areas of knowledge not included in the regular classroom.
To model intelligent, responsible behavior.
Curriculum and Instructional Strategies
To provide a learning environment filled with areas of study and
learning processes beyond those available in the regular classroom.
To provide flexible instructional arrangements to meet each student's
special needs.
Program Management and Administration
To identify and place up to five percent of the student population in
grades K-6 in the Talented and Gifted Program.
To provide instruction using enrichment and/or acceleration for each
student in the program, and to assist instructors in finding materials appropriate for
in-class enrichment.
To evaluate student and program progress.
