Students Volunteer to Help River Valley Students with Trucker Buddy Program

Crayons

Sixteen fifth and sixth grade students from Starkweather Elementary have been spending one noon hour each month working with students from River Valley School in Rock Valley.  The River Valley students are in the class of LaVonne Witte.  The students from Starkweather Elementary have been writing letters to the class's Trucker Buddy as well as helping the River Valley students write their own letters.  This provides an opportunity for students from the two schools to work together and even develop friendships.  The students have been receiving letters on a regular basis from their Trucker Buddy, Marlene Poe from Rockaway Beach, Missouri.  The letters and postcards have described the her travels.  The students are hoping that she will actually visit Rock Valley so they can meet her in person and see her truck.
