Mr. Ortman and students promote the CORPS of Rock Valley Elementary at the State School Board Convention.

WELCOME TO ROCK VALLEY ELEMENTARY!

Hold on to your hard hats, it is going to be a very exciting 2006-2007 school year.  The hammers began pounding away with excitement during the Spring of 2006 with the construction of our brand new elementary school.   Our ladders are climbing the walls as we end a tradition of excellence at 1520 19th Avenue and look forward to moving into our new facility.

Our sawhorses are racing to start the 69th and final year of educating students at our current site.  Our theme for the year will be Character Under Construction.  Our theme affirms our commitment to character education and to our school’s mission of educating today’s student for tomorrow.  At Rock Valley Elementary we care about the children and the partnership we form with them and the community in their development. Working together we build and construct an environment where all students succeed in school and in the future.  Working together we are thankful this community passed our bond issue to create a better world for our students.  The world we create for them in school and in this community will determine in part the world they will envision for themselves and their future.

This summer of 2006 our bolts have been going nuts as we have been busy picking out new carpet, tiles, lockers and colors for the new building.  Our shovels are diggin’ it as we think about a new school with big classrooms, updated technology, new furnishings, and air conditioning.  Our sanders will be rough and ready to move into classrooms with great lighting, storage, and improved communication systems.  The tape measures are counting the days for updated plumbing and bathrooms, a bigger gym, and incredible library.

During the 2006-2007 school year all of us will be building together to live by the theme Character Under Construction.   We will continue to educate others and ourselves about living by the six pillars of fairness, responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, caring, and respectfulness.  We look forward to the 2006-2007 school year of celebrating our past, educating today’s students for tomorrow, and building for the future.

Thank you for visiting our website.  I am very proud of our school; the students, staff, and the programs we offer.  I would be glad to give you a tour, answer questions, and tell you about all the great things happening at Rock Valley Elementary.
